Students, faculty, and staff are invited to a Nursing Virtual Reality Open House between 1 and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in room 342 of Lentz Hall.

Carthage Nursing Department’s VR simulation program, supported by a $70,000 gift from the Franklin I. and Irene List Saemann Foundation, includes 10 Meta Quest 3 headsets packed with over 145 simulated clinical scenarios.

All junior and senior nursing students engage in the VR program, which bridges theory to practice with immersive simulated patient care encounters, faculty-led debriefing, and reflection activities. This learning modality improves student performance by promoting critical thinking, clinical judgment, and learner confidence to provide safe, high-quality care.

Open house attendees can try the equipment themselves, with nursing faculty and staff on hand to answer questions.
